LEATHER CARE

Keep in mind that there are no pros and cons generally about how to treat and take care of the leather. Since cleaning is part of a good routine, it is certainly not a bad thing to do but the frequency depends on your preferences: what aspect you want it to take and what is the role of the leather object in your life.

  • The leather needs to breathe. Just like the skin, the leather needs some ventilation to prevent mold and decomposition. Always use the bag provided with the article to store it.
  • Keep the leather away from direct sunlight and heat. Just like skin and other fabrics, when the leather gets wet and then heats up immediately, it can shrink and dry out too quickly. Rather, it lets it dry naturally, even if it takes a couple of days.
  • Wipe the leather regularly with a damp cloth because dirt, dust and all sorts of other abrasive particles cause premature wear.
  • Condition the leather like your skin. Dab gently neutral moisturizing skin cream or "oxen" oil so that your bags do not dry out and crepe. Leave on for 10 minutes, then clean the excess and allow to dry well in an airy environment. This will not "shine", but will protect them.  Condition every 3-6 months for everyday objects or in case of dry environment and season. Every 6-12 months, preferring to let the bags dry completely keeps the leather looking robust and resistant and allows you to accumulate scratches.  *Note that in most cases air conditioners do not waterproof the leather, although some include a water repellent component. Always look for lanolin as an ingredient in skin care products. This product is a natural waxy secretion of the sheep and it softens the skin to a greater extent than other products, it is also found in all types of products for the care of human skin. Use it conscientiously to get exactly what you want from your leather, soft or more robust looking.
  • The leather does not need waterproofing. Most leather goods are treated with a kind of waterproofing. In most environments and conditions, your  leather will hold up well until it rains, snow, etc.  Beware of:
-beeswax used as waterproofing because it can alter the hue of the dyed leather. -Spray are an accessible and easy alternative, but they are practically invisible on the leather.

LITTLE TRICKS

  • TEST IT ON A SMALL HIDDEN PORTION before apply a treatment. Let it dry for 24 hours to make sure it is suitable or  it looks different from what you want.
  • LESS IS, BETTER IS! Too much product can ruin your skin, so we recommend you use small quantities, but often.
  • NEVER USE WATER risked ruining the leather.
  • REVIVING THE LEATHER Cotton swab soaked in cow's milk. Gently move on the surface. Allow to hang and wipe with a dry cloth.
  • REMOVE STAIN RINGS face cleansing milk to be gently passed on the surface by changing the wadding several times.
  • SHINING your bags will be fine with an old pair of nylon stockings and they will look like new.  In addition, the inside of a banana peel is excellent for polishing leather objects. After removing the filamentous material of the peel, rub the inside of the banana on the skin spots. Use a soft cloth or a polishing paper towel.
  • ELIMINATION OF THE ODOR Take a cotton ball and bathe it with 5 drops of tea tree essential oil and rub the inside of your bag well.
